In the lead-up to Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, students at ProEd Umalas Campus embraced the festive spirit with an afternoon of laughter and shared experiences through traditional Indonesian games (lomba 17-an)—a much-loved feature of Independence Day celebrations across the country.
Held on August 15, 2025, two days before the national holiday, the event gave students the chance to enjoy activities that are simple yet full of cultural meaning:
The games are:

Makan Kerupuk (Cracker-Eating Game) – A lighthearted activity enjoyed by our Reception and Nursery students inside the classroom, giving our youngest learners a fun introduction to Indonesia’s Independence Day traditions.

Balap Karung (Sack Race) – A hopping race that sparked laughter from start to finish.
While there were winners in the sack race, the true highlight was the atmosphere of participation, teamwork, and joy. Students cheered one another on, teachers encouraged from the sidelines, and smiles were everywhere.
For many in our school community, this was a chance to experience a uniquely Indonesian tradition firsthand, while for others, it was an opportunity to share and appreciate the cultural celebrations of the country we call home.
Simple to set up but rich in meaning, the afternoon’s activities reflected the values of cooperation, inclusivity, and joy—making this 80th Independence Day one to remember for our Umalas campus.
